This series of our Wild Britain bushcraft course - We explore the Grizedale forest

Besed at Grizedale campsite you'll be emersed in bushcraft workshops over three days - Take on the Wild Lake district from a Aboriginal bushcraft perspective and take away a deeper understanding of nature here in Britain

You'll leave feeling confident in a host a bushcraft skills and with a experience of the lake district like no other -

Enjoy bliss nights by the fire surrounded by British woodland

What's coverd:

Like all of our courses this one is fully caterd for and you have the opotunity to stay in  Tipi lodge during the experiance. We will be engaging in several primitive skills workshops including ancient fires, natural crafts, foraging and tracking. You will have the freedom, to experement and explore while learing side by side with like minded indivisuals. 

°Setting up a simplistic camp including the Tipi lodge - where to sight a camp, camp essentials and camp equipment

°The historyof each method of primitive fires, native wisdom and nature explored detailed over campfire talks

°Hand drill manufacturing and use

°Iron Pyrite and flint sparks

Amadou production, and other fungus based tinders

°Carrying fire

°Fire safety and good practice

°Foraging workshop - a guided walk in the nearby forests

°Foraging sustainability - Code of conduct including the country side code

°Identifying Seasonal wild foods for personal foraging - Identifying toxic plants

°Wildlife tracking - An introduction to tracking. Reading the landscape, ground sign and animal tracks -

°Cooking feasts with the primitive fire

°Tree and plant ID, their uses for food and medicine

°Using a stream to wash, along with utilising a warm camp shower

°Meat preservation through drying and smoking

°Woven blankets and natural bedding You’ll have the opportunity to ditch your sleeping bag and mat, using natures resources instead

°Tracking and observation skills

°Woodcraft workshop - matirials selection - suitable carving wood - Sustainability

Carving techniques, tool care &

Spoon carving

°Pine resin collection, processing and uses

Soap making and balm for natural sources

°Bread baking, back country cooking including the use of a Dutch oven and foraging wild feast

°A Hand Drill set and Amadou Tile is made by each participents to take home

°Star gazing and nocteral wildlife

°Natural clay pottery - temper and firing clay

°A introduction to flint knapping - Stone selection, hammer stone, Antler tool making and flake tool

°Salmon ponassing - Small game butchery

°Hide tanning

Small group size with a maximum of 10 guests to ensure we create a subtle atmosphere in the woods, and you get a very high interaction time with the instructor.

A full kit list is given out on booking, but you won't need much more than a sleeping bag and warm clothing.

This course is fully catered starting with the evening meal on the Friday, and finishing with lunch on Sunday. Please inform us of any dietary requirements, we're happy to cater to any needs.

Due the involved nature of this course, we don't feel its suitable to under 16 year olds (please ask if you have any questions)

Under 18's must be accompanied by a participating adult
